EWOC 2020

The second annual Empowering Women in Organic Chemistry Conference was held virtually on Thursday, August 13, 2020, and Friday, August 14, 2020. We were excited to continue our mission of empowerment along with promoting networking, community, and amazing science!

EWOC is dedicated to equity, justice, diversity, and inclusion. We strive to provide a harassment-free experience for everyone. All communication should be professional.

Agenda (all times shown are EDT)

Thursday, August 13, 2020
      • Virtual Poster Sessions: 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Each poster was given its own Zoom room. Attendees received a list of the links to these rooms and were able to visit posters as they wished during the specified times. In this virtual poster session format, we encouraged presenters to use whatever format worked best to present their work; in some cases, presenters chose to use multiple slides instead of the traditional static poster.

Career Panel

Choose Your Own Adventure: Career Paths of Organic Chemists. (Moderator: Mary P. Watson, Ph.D., University of Delaware)

Meet the Panelists

As a grad student or postdoc, it can be hard to know that various career paths really look like. This career panel pulled back the curtain on multiple career trajectories with the panelists discussing scientific, professional, and personal accomplishments and challenges that they have faced along the way. Participants came away with a deeper understanding of what various careers entail and how to maximize their success in getting and thriving in their career choice.
